A male juror in the Vybz Kartel murder trial was yesterday arrested moments after the verdict was read.
It is allegedly that he tried to bribe the jury foreman with $500,000. But the foreman ” Ain’t had no time for that,” as he quickly turned down the offer and reported the matter to the relevant authorities.
Prior to Kartel’s unanimous conviction the verdict was returned 10 guilty and 1 not guilty. The juror’s were sent back into deliberate and after two hours they returned with the unanimous verdict. Sounds a little fishy but probably the bribe was leaning in favor of the world boss, “who knows.”
It still is not clear what the bribe was, but that matter is now about to have it’s own trial and if convicted the accused could face up to three years in jail.
Vybz Kartel and members of his camp were found guilty of murder last evening in a Jamaican Court.
The dancehall entertainer and three of his four co-accused were found guilty of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams finally concluding the widely followed trial which lasted 65 days.
The eleven-member jury Read out the verdict as follows.
Adidja Palmer – GUILTY
Shawn Campbell – GUILTY
Kahira Jones – GUILTY
Shane Williams – Not GUILTY
Andre St John – GUILTY
In more news, Jamaican media claims that the “World Boss” and his lawyers are already planning to file an appeal to have the conviction overturned.
“I’ve spoken to Mr. Finson and plans are already underway to file an appeal,” the rep told us. “There were far too many acts of police corruption involving the case. In addition, there were no body and the main witness clearly concocted his story. We accept the jury verdict but Adidja Palmer is an innocent man being sent to prison.”
Last year Kartel was acquitted of the murder of promoter Barrington “Bossie” Burton who was shot and killed while standing with a group of friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park, St. Catherine. The state main witness allegedly went into hiding.
